The successful candidate will be responsible for the mechanical design of components and structures for aircraft cabin interiors, as well as actuation mechanisms and kinematic systems. In addition to CAD development, the role will involve structural validation through Finite Element Analysis (FEA), including static and dynamic analyses, to support EASA/FAA certification activities.
Design and 3D CAD modelling of mechanical components and assemblies, including structural and non-structural parts, as well as various types of mechanisms and kinematic systems.
Independently develop and perform linear FEA/FEM analyses on components and structures, including static and dynamic analyses, to support aircraft certification activities, including 16g dynamic tests, HIC (Head Injury Criterion) assessments, and structural tests.
Prepare structural calculation reports and technical documentation to support certification processes.
Analyse and propose structural optimisation solutions to reduce weight and improve performance while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and design specifications.
Define technical specifications for materials, tolerances, and design processes.
Manage technical documentation, including engineering drawings and bills of materials (BOMs), in accordance with company standards.
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
At least 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the aerospace sector or in mechanical/industrial engineering environments with stringent structural requirements.
Excellent knowledge of 3D CAD software, such as Creo/Pro-ENGINEER, CATIA, SolidWorks, or equivalent tools.
Proven experience in FEA/FEM using structural analysis software such as Ansys, Nastran, Abaqus, or equivalent tools.
Solid knowledge of dynamic structural analysis, including modal analysis, frequency response, and transient dynamic analysis.
Knowledge of structural design and verification criteria for mechanical and/or aerospace components. Familiarity with airworthiness requirements and EASA/FAA CS-25 regulations is considered an advantage.
Familiarity with metallic materials (aluminium alloys and steel) and/or composite materials, including their manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Good command of written and spoken English (minimum B2 level).
Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, with strong attention to detail, autonomy, and a results-oriented approach.
Preferred Qualifications
Specific experience with seating mechanisms, recline systems, or aircraft cabin interior structures.
Knowledge of aerospace regulations and aircraft certification processes.
Experience in fatigue analysis and linear and/or non-linear dynamic analysis, including the assessment of structural response under dynamic loading conditions.
